Aesthetic Overhaul

The aesthetic overhaul is here, a whole month early!! Featuring a fresh new set of default site themes and colors, our new ARPG color palette of yellow and purple represents Faia's overarching conflict between light and wither. A huge thanks to LarK3d for their gorgeous banner artwork as always,, 💖 Note that not all site artwork has been updated to the new art style yet- this will happen gradually over the course of the next few months!

Babies are also here!! Wick-Wyrms, Luma, Torts, and Riftlings are now available to design and play. Their MYOs can be obtained for a 500 wisp discount from adult MYOs via the General Shop, Supporter Shop, and Ko-Fi. 2) Sadly, the Celestial Cornucopia event for November will be canceled this year! Due to irl responsibilities, I know I won't have time to release the event properly. However, event items (Nebula Wanderer trait items, Nebulite pets) will still be obtainable in a mystery substitute event!

HARVEST Festival

Event Duration: 9/1/25 - 9/30/25

The Harvest Festival is one of the most beloved celebrations of the year, focusing on gratitude for a bountiful harvest and, of course, delicious food. This annual event brings together Faians from all corners of the Realm to Arkala City, now one of Faia's most prominent cities. As Faians arrive, they are accompanied by airships carrying the local harvests of their home islands... soon to be made into mouthwatering recipes.

Upon the first arrivals, Arkala City practically transforms into a bustling open-air kitchen. Cooking stations can be found all around the plazas and streets, as Faians from each island prepare their signature dishes for the night’s grand feast. Indeed, these feasts are the main attraction of the Festival, held at dinnertime on weekends throughout the month. From hearty stews to bizarre-looking vegetables, these gatherings offer Faians the opportunity to not only appreciate authentic recipes from around the Realm, but also to befriend the unique Faians that they meet while sharing a meal.

There are a total of 13 collectibles in the Harvest Festival Figurines collection, which can be obtained at random from Harvest Festival Figurine Boxes. These Boxes are a bonus reward that drop for every event prompt, and are also available in both the Event Shop and Ko-Fi Shop.

Once you have completed the collection, claim your Harvest Runestone from the collection page! This Runestone, combined with the three other Runestones from other seasonal events, will grant access to the Serpent's Glade and its contents. More information on the mini-storyline can be found in the Introduction post.

Harvest Season has arrived! Which means: new traits and pets have rotated in! All new seasonal items can be found in Maple Magic or on Ko-Fi, and will be available from now until the end of Harvest Season (December 1st).

NEW Arrivals!

a new art style...

As you may have noticed, there is quite a lot of new art around the site! Eventually, all ARPG assets will be redone in this style for the aesthetic overhaul, which is scheduled for November.

The overhaul will include: new default site themes, a new site icon/meta tag, new user role colors, new trait rarity colors, and new artwork everywhere! I hope that this overhaul will give the ARPG more of a fantasy-RPG feeling, and better reflect Faia's main lore of light vs. wither through the new color palette (wink wink purple)...

Below are some notable changes to item artwork you should be aware of!

• Potions now come in 4 different base-shapes (as shown above) to easier distinguish which species they are applicable to. Note that not all potion artwork has been redone yet, apologies for the temporary confusion!
• Paint Bottles are now Paint Swatches.
• Pet Carriers are now drawn as cardboard boxes.

Eeriels' Ballade

Event Duration: 8/1/25 - 8/31/25

It is music that brings us all together...

The Eeriels' Ballade has finally begun! Faians from all around the Realm gather on the coasts of Lylluna, waiting for transportation into the underwater city of Yfalos. Indeed, Yfalos' residents are hard at work preparing air bubbles, water breathing potions, accomodations for both Faians and Eeriels, and the music itself. They could use a hand!

🐳 Teeny tiny dancers 🐳

This year, Yfalos has decided to incorporate pets into the Eeriels' Ballade... as dancers! The only problem is: most pets are not used to being around many strangers at once, especially in such an unfamiliar setting. To remedy this, Nerissa asks that Faians introduce their pets to unfamiliar Faians, and allow them to teach their pets dances as well as spend time with them. This way, pets will gradually adjust to being around strangers, while also preparing for the big performance! Let's just hope these pets can keep some dance moves in their noggins...

Welcome!

I see your pets are itching to dance in the Eeriels' Ballade... In this activity, you earn points by drawing your pets with other peoples' characters! The top three point earners (AKA owners of the most highly trained, skilled, world-class-master-of-dancing pets) will each earn a prize (info below)! This activity ends with the Eeriels' Ballade event. To participate, please follow the steps below!

Step 1. REGISTER YOUR PETS

You may register up to 3 pets to participate in this activity! Each pet must be owned by you and attached to a Faian character owned by you. The registered pet/s must stay attached to that character and under your ownership until results are announced.

FOR FTOs: If you do not currently own any Faian characters, you can borrow Nerissa to participate! You may register 1 pet, which you must own yourself, and you don't need to worry about the pet being attached to the character.

Once you have chosen your pet/s, fill out the form below and comment it on this news post!

Step 2. EARNING POINTS

Now that your pets have arrived in Yfalos, it's time for them to mingle with new Faians!

In this activity, you earn points by drawing your pets with other peoples' characters. You can draw any of your own registered pets (1 pet per piece) with any characters posted on other peoples' registration forms (1 character per piece), earning 1 point per piece! Here is a breakdown of that process.

1) CHOOSE: Choose a pet and character to draw together (pet owned by you, character owned by someone else and posted in their registration form).

2) DRAW: Draw them spending time together using any or the EB event prompts, or specifically draw them practicing dance with this year's exclusive prompt: [EB] Teeny Tiny Dancers! Note that in order for the piece to be eligible for points, it MUST be artwork (no writing) and only include the 1 character and 1 pet.

3) SUBMIT: Submit the piece to its prompt normally, AND submit it to this gallery! This is REQUIRED, as points are counted based on gallery submissions.

4) DELIVER: You're almost done! The piece you just drew was basically gift art, so now its time to deliver the gift... on this news post, find the owner of the character you drew, and reply to their (registration form) comment with a gallery link to the piece!

Step 3. FINAL PRIZES

‼️ Points will be counted at the end of the event. You MUST keep your registered pet/s under your ownership and attached to their character/s (unless you're borrowing Nerissa- ignore this part) until results are announced ‼️

At the end of the event, the top three point earners can choose a prize from the following prize pool, with first place getting first choice, second place getting second choice, and third place getting third choice. Winners will be contacted via a reply to their registration comment.

How to participate

Step 1. Attack faians on artfight

Create attacks (visual art or animation) of Faian characters on the official Artfight! These can be attacks, friendly fire, revenge... anything that is officially uploaded onto Artfight qualifies. Your team does not matter, as we're basically all one big Faia-team in this Milestone event! To find characters to attack, visit the Discord server's ⟡-artfight-links channel.

(Pssst! You can submit your attack artworks to our on-site event gallery!)

Step 2. Submit for wisps & points

Each individual attack on a Faian character can be submitted to this prompt for both wisps and event points! Additional rules are in the prompt description. You will earn the same amount of wisps as you would normally if the piece were submitted as general art, with the exception of pet bonuses being inapplicable. Please include a wisp breakdown in your comments, fill out the given form, and attach your wisps manually!

The number of wisps you earn in each attack also directly translates to the number of points contributed to the event's point meter! Your attack will be logged on the Event Point Meter document, and your points will be added to the total, contributing towards new prizes for everyone...

Step 3. enter the raffle

At the end of the event, a google form will be posted, allowing anyone who participated to enter a free raffle for all prizes unlocked by the community! On the form, you'll be able to rank each prize by preference. The order of rolled winners' picks will be based on contribution to the event's point meter: the more points you score, the higher the possibility of winning your first choice prize!

The top few 5 point scorers also earn bonus prizes. More info below!

Anyone who participates (makes at least one attack on a Faian character) is eligible to enter in the free raffle at the end of the event, and all attacks on Faian characters are eligible for standard wisp rewards. Several flora have been added to the World Expanded: Gemtrap Cactus, Wind Catcher, Beads of the Shore, Bamboo Pit-cher, Dragon's Spine, Heartleaf Moss, Starberry, Heartfruit, and Coral Mycelium! These include May's Flora of Faia winners as well as some extras. Each flora entry comes with a detailed reference sheet, description, and growth / cultural information!

Updates

1) Writing bonus for prompts is now +500 words = +100 wisps, to match the ratio of artwork!

2) The Tortuvina Swan Wings trait has been renamed to Feathered Wings.

3) A new rule has been added to the Code of Conduct: "YOU MAY NOT... Harass others for their items or characters. This includes making offers when those items/characters aren't explicitly put UFO." (in summary, don't DM others to offer on stuff they didn't put UFO!)

4) A full site aesthetic overhaul is planned for November! I would like to move the ARPG's main aesthetic away from the current 'shiny green & blue', as it doesn't represent Faia's lore in any way. The new aesthetic I have planned will mostly focus on the colors purple and yellow, representing Light and Wither! The overhaul will include new default site themes, hopefully new artwork for all items and pets in a new style (I will be getting an iPad soon... no more touchpad art...), as well as new trait rarity colors. Updated artwork will roll out gradually after the initial overhaul in November!

Rite of the Reef

[Bay Festival] Event Duration: 6/1/25 - 6/30/25

The arrival of Bay Season brings with it a tradition of profound cultural significance: The Rite of the Reef. Generations ago, when Faia was smothered by wither, the Lightkeepers brought warmth and life back to the Realm, one island at a time. The Rite honors these efforts, celebrating light and uniting Faians together in shared purpose.

The Rite of the Reef occurs annually in Lylluna Reef, an island that has long since been considered the heart of Faia. Each night of the Rite, Faians gather on Lylluna's outer beaches and release their lanterns to the ocean. In this unified act, Faians from around the Realm create a tangible connection to their shared purpose, the floating lanterns not only symbolizing their achievements thus far, but each Faian's continued commitment to the Lightkeeper cause.

There are a total of 13 collectibles in the Bay Festival Figurines collection, which can be obtained at random from Bay Festival Figurine Boxes. These Boxes are a bonus reward that drop for every event prompt, and are also available in both the Event Shop and Ko-Fi shop.

Once you have completed the collection, claim your Bay Runestone from the collection page! This Runestone, combined with the three other Runestones from other seasonal events, will grant access to the Serpent's Glade and its contents. More information on the mini-storyline can be found in the Introduction post.

Bay Season has arrived! Which means: new traits and pets have rotated in! All new seasonal items can be found in SharkMart or on Ko-Fi, and will be available from now until the end of Bay Season (September 1st).

Seasonal Site Theme
Craft the Bay Palette using this season's Paint Bottles (Gold, Sunshine, Cream, Aqua, Ocean, Cobalt) to obtain a vibrant, beach-themed site theme! Crafting recipes for the Bay Palette and Bay Pigment items can be found in SharkMart for 1KC and 0KC, respectively.

Everything can be found in the prompt value guide!

ANIMATION: You can now submit animated pieces for prompts (except kelp coin prompts) for huge bonuses! Calculating the wisp value for animation involves 3 main factors: base value, complexity, and frame multiplier. The formula and calculation tutorial can be found in the prompt value guide under its own section. Don't be intimidated by the long guide, it's not as complex as it looks!

DYNAMIC POSE BONUS: Drawing dynamic poses can be challenging, but Faia is all about creative development! You may apply the dynamic pose bonus to any fullbody piece for +100 wisps. Requirements can be found in the prompt value guide under art values!

MINOR UPDATES: The pet bonus has been raised from +40 wisps to +50 wisps. The simple background bonus has been raised from +150 wisps to +250 wisps. The complex background bonus has been raised from +250 wisps to +350 wisps. And lastly, event quests can now be completed by characters you don't own (with gift art turned on)!

Paint pigments

To make obtaining seasonal paint palettes (site themes) easier, Paint Pigments have arrived! Pigments are boxes that can be opened for a paint bottle of choice from a certain seasonal palette. They can be crafted using any 3 paint bottles from their respective season. Pigment crafting recipes can be found in the seasonal shops for free!

1) MOD APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN! Fill out the form to apply for the Community Moderator position (info in the form)!

2) Thank you to everyone who entered in last month's Flora of Faia event! Results will be posted in the Discord server in about a week (and winners will be contacted on-site)!

3) The following items have been added to the Box of Junk recipe as eligible ingredients: Variant Swap, Boosha Carrier, Bubwee Carrier, Chombee Carrier, Grumblit Carrier, Jellyfishfish Carrier, Keetadoar Carrier, Poosum Carrier, Smorkip Carrier. The new Bay Seasonal paint bottles and RR figurines have also been added!

4) The following items have been added to the Supporter Shop: Bloom Palette, Bay Palette, 4 Kelp Coins (currency conversion), 400 Wisps (curreny conversion)

4) Some reminders about site mechanics! Currency can be transferred through Home > Bank, and Pets (outside of pet carriers) can be transferred directly through the menu that shows up when you click on their image icon  (NOT when you click into their profile)! Hope this makes trading easier for you guys :D

5) Artwork for the Water Rabbit Potion got a small revamp! In the coming months, several pet carriers were also get minor artwork revamps.

6) The Ko-Fi shop has restocked to contain all new Bay Seasonal and event items!

The Flora of Faia

Event Duration: 5/1/25 - 5/31/25

How to participate

Step 1. islands and info

EVENT PROMPT: Design flora (a plant) that is native to any one of the islands below.

This event's selected islands are: Lylluna Reef, Zamna, and Orevein. 

You may submit as many entries as you'd like, and there is no limit on how many entries you can submit for a single island. The term 'flora' encompasses any plant including fungi: so trees, flowers, shrubbery, mushrooms, mosses, weeds, grass, completely fantastical and made-up plants... anything is on the table! 

Step 2. design flora

ENTRIES ARE JUDGED BASED ON: (1) creativity of the visual design, (2) cohesiveness with the design and environment of the home island, and (3) creativity of the information (name, properties if any, uses if any, blurb if any).

REFERENCES FOR DESIGNING: It is important to  familiarize yourself with the environment and design of the home island before designing flora for that island! Environment-wise, information for each island can be found in their World Expanded pages (linked above). Design-wise, the best drawn reference is the map artwork, but additional references include the pixel icon and concept-art banner (found in the island's World Expanded page, not available for every island).

With all that information in mind, it's time to get designing! Here are the 2 criteria for submitting an entry explained.

Step 3. Submit your entry

Now that your plant has been drawn and prepared, it's time to actually submit your entry!

Entries should be submitted to this gallery. One entry per gallery post (if you designed multiple plants, make a separate gallery post for each). In the description, fill out this form:

Once everything is all filled out, submit the gallery post! You have participated in the event, congratulations! Again, there is no limit on how many entries you can make and how many entries an win in total (but as always, quality & creativity > quantity...)

Prizes

Winners will be announced and receive their prizes ~ a week after the event ends! The winning entries will then be made official and added to the World Expanded in July. For this event, entries are judged based on the following creativity (visual design + information) and cohesiveness with the home island.

Participation prizes

All participants are automatically entered into a raffle upon entering! Prizes (1 random prize per winner, 2 winners): Bush Viper Potion x1, Croket Carrier x1.

Winners' prizes

All winning entries (entries that are chosen to be made canon) will be ranked, and based on that ranking, the creators will get an ordered pick from the prize pool below. Each person can win a maximum of 3 prizes; in the case of a person having more than 3 winning entries, their picking order will be based on their 3 highest ranked entries, and any additional winning entries will reward 300 wisps each!
