The Arcane Balance

Draw or write about your Faian synchronizing their magic with Alastor’s to balance the spell.

The Archmage Alastor stands at the very tip of the wooden platform, his silhouette framed by the dark smog before him. To keep his massive spell from tearing itself apart during the preparation phase, Arcane Mages must act as stabilizers, using their matching affinity to synchronize with Alastor and balance the spell. This will ensure that the magic is contained and doesn’t shatter the wooden platform (or Alastor) before they leave for the shore.

Safety lanterns

Draw or write about your Faian maintaining the Outpost’s lanterns.

The Outpost’s cliffside paths are precarious, especially when the winds pick up. To ensure the safety of the Mages and supply crews, a network of lanterns have been installed throughout the Outpost. Brave Faians are tasked with maintenance, climbing ladders and navigating scaffolding to refill and polish these lanterns. Without them, the sheer drop from the Wingwatch cliffs becomes a real safety hazard in the dark.

The Bestial Battery

Draw or write about your Faian channeling their magic into the crystals.

Alastor’s spell requires immense stored energy to retain its power until it is ready to cast. Stationed at the base of the wooden platform, Beast Mages are tasked with channeling, pouring their inner strength into crystals that store and charge the longevity of the spell. It’s a pretty blunt approach, but the Archmages couldn’t think of anything better either.

Heavy Haul

Draw or write about your Faian transporting crates.

The altitude of the Wingwatch Outpost makes it hard for flightless Faians to move goods. A pulley system has been rigged up the cliffside to bring up crates of food, wood, and blankets. Strong Faians are constantly unloading these massive crates from the system and hauling them to the storage tents. It’s grueling work, but someone has to keep the Mages fed and warm!

I expect every crate in the tent by sundown! Those Mages will be useless tomorrow if they’re shivering and hungry. Move!!

The Divine Purification

Draw or write about your Faian purifying the smog.

To ensure the spell strikes with precision when the crew lands, the atmospheric interference from the smog above Raydes must be dealt with in advance. Divine Mages occupy the highest points of the Outpost, using their magic to weaken the density of the distant clouds. The purified area that they are creating will prevent the final spell from being choked by smog when it is released.

Watch duty

Draw or write about your Faian on watch duty.

Just in case the weather turns or if something emerges from the dark fog below, several Faians man a series of long-ranged telescopes and signal flags from the highest point of the Outpost. Keeping a constant eye on the horizon for changes in the Wither, the safety of every soul on the cliff depends on their alertness.

The Faerie Lattice

Draw or write about your Faian weaving a magical lattice.

A single beam of spellwork is easily swallowed by the shadows of Raydes. To be effective, the spell must be able to diffuse into a wide aura. Fae Mages stand along the edges of the platform, weaving a complex lattice structure designed to split the light. When the spell is released, this lattice will allow it to ripple outward in a vast, cleansing net, covering every inch of Raydes.

High spirits

Draw or write about your Faian boosting morale around the Outpost.

Wingwatch is cold and, quite frankly, a miserable place to be. To keep morale from plummeting, Faians have been tasked with providing comfort in a variety of ways: brewing massive pots of tea, distributing warm cloaks, playing a bit of music, or even just telling a joke to the stressed Mages. Keeping spirits high is just as important as the spell itself.
