Talon Grass Dracopedis Acutifolia

Non-Flowering Plants

Talon Grass

Design by Theartentropist

Talon grass is a hardy plains and desert grass, characterized by its round, sturdy stalk that unfurls into an extremely thin and sharp blade. Silvery and dull in color, these blades are deceptive, hiding a dangerous edge that can slice through materials with ease. At the base of each stalk grow three hard, iridescent plates resembling dragon scales, giving the plant an ancient, armored appearance.

Lore & Culture

Young faians are advised to stay away from patches of these grasses due to their extremely sharp nature...but when do the youth ever listen? They are plucked to use as play swords, and young, hollow stalks can be cut and slipped over toes as false claws. Furthermore, the iridescent scales at the base are the subject of many rumors. While many believe they hold hidden magical properties, their most common confirmed use is being ground into a vivid, shimmering blue paint pigment. The fruits are a rare treat, often sought out for their faint glow, though they are most commonly consumed after being dried, a process that preserves their color but extinguishes their inner light.
