Chapter I: A Legend Lost

Legend says...

The Immortal Serpent was the first, and only, immortal creature that the deities created. Born in the early stages of experimental creation, the Immortal Serpent was designed to serve as a gentle guardian and dispenser of wisdom. The deities gave the Serpent an infinitely self-regenerating life force; something that, up until this point, only the deities posessed.

However, despite the Serpent’s meticulously crafted characteristics, the deities remained uncertain about the existence of an immortal being. They feared the Serpent could somehow become an unstoppable, destructive force, even trumping their own power. With these doubts in mind, they watched over the Serpent carefully, and at the first hint of restlessness, they descended to take action.

Unable to drain the Immortal Serpent’s life force, the deities placed it under a spell of deep sleep, and, like the rest of their problems, sealed it away within a pocket realm known as the Serpent’s Glade. A portal gate was created for the deities to access, but remains hidden and locked to the rest of the realm. Legend says the Immortal Serpent remains trapped in the Glade to this day, fated to sleep away eternity.

...

This legend originated from an awakened Ruptour, who claimed to be close to the Beast Deity. After his death, his children were the first to go looking for the gate. They were unsuccessful, and for years, Faians have continued to hunt for the Serpent’s Gate to no avail.
