Introduction
The Mage’s Academy is located on the sky island Valona, serving as Faia’s preeminent institution for magical education and research. Tuition is free to any Faian with an activated affinity, regardless of age or species. The Academy is dedicated to producing generations of respected and accomplished Mages, in the hopes that they will go on to do great things for Faia.
The Mage's Academy is a playable feature in the ARPG, unlocked to any character with an activated Affinity!

Ranks
Once a character has activated their Affinity using a Totem, they are admitted to the Mage's Academy at Rank I. There are four Ranks in the Academy: I, II, III, and IV. Each Rank contains five unique prompts to choose from, three of which are 'classes' for immersive purposes! Completing Rank IV marks a Faian becoming a Mage.
Progressing the Ranks
To progress to the next Rank, complete any three out of the five prompt choices. Prompts are marked by [R-I], [R-II], [R-III], and [R-IV].
Note: Certain prompts must be completed to progress, namely [R-III] Mage's Staff and [R-IV] The Spirit's Transition.
Submission Notes
- Progress (X/3 prompts completed) in each Rank is marked by EXP.
- Completing extra prompts or prompts from previous Ranks does not reward EXP.
- Set your character to Focus Character and attach EXP x1 to character rewards.
- Submission instructions are also attached to each prompt.
Levels
You can access your character's Stat Profile by clicking Stat Information, which is located on the left nav bar of the Character's main page. Level Information displays your character's progress (X/3 prompts completed; all characters start at Level 1), and Stat Information displays the AFFINITY stat, which mirrors the character's Affinity Level.

How to Level Up
When your character earns 3 EXP from their current Rank, you can level them up by following these steps:
- In your character's Stat Profile, click the green 'Level Up' button.
- Click the Affinity stat's box, where there is now 1 available stat point. Click 'Level Up'.
- Your character has successfully leveled up and increased their Affinity stat!
Affinity spirits
Lesser
When a Faian unlocks their affinity, they are linked with a Lesser Affinity Spirit of their Affinity's house. They can shift form, but must maintain a ghost-like shape and white eyes. Possible features include ears, horns, wings, fins, spines, etc, and can be added within reason. Once summoned, they can stay for a short time before returning to the spirit realm.

Greater
A student's Affinity Spirit will train alongside them throughout the Ranks until they finally become a Greater Spirit, which marks the student becoming a Mage. Greater Affinity Spirits take on a permanent form, and once summoned, they can stay indefinitely.
Greater Spirit Design Rules
- The spirit’s color must match the character's Affinity.
- Gradients are allowed as long as they stay in color territory, but no markings.
- The only non-Affinity color is white, applied exclusively to the eyes and mouth.
- The Spirit can resemble any real or fantastical creature. It cannot resemble Faian species, ARPG pets, franchise-unique creatures (e.g. Pokemon), or have a humanoid form. Its silhouette must be easily distinguishable from Lesser Spirits.

Aside from the bragging rights, there are many perks to participating in the Academy and developing your characters into powerful Mages! We encourage you to also use these prompts as an opportunity to explore your character's story and immerse yourself into the world-setting of Faia's most prestigious institution.

Your Faian gets to have their very own Greater Affinity Spirit accompanying them on the Masterlist! The spirit can have practically any design... enormous imposing dragon, adorable puffball, it's all up to you!
Boss Battle power
In Boss Battle events, the community works together to defeat a powerful enemy. As a Mage (or high Rank), your Faian will deal significant damage, allowing you to climb up the event leaderboard and win exclusive prizes!
