What are babies?

Babies are the playable child versions of our adult species! Their MYOs are 500 wisps cheaper, making them the more accessible option. However, keep in mind that babies must first be grown up before they can participate in all ARPG activities!

NOTE: If you're new to the ARPG, grab your free FTO Baby MYO + FTO gifts here!

Babies Vs Adults: Key Differences

PROMPT PARTICIPATION: Babies can't participate in most ARPG prompts. They can only be submitted for wisps in Growth Prompts and General Art/Writing. However, they can be depicted as background characters (there must be another adult focus character) in any prompt, even while still a baby.

ART WISP VALUES: With the exception of Growth Prompts when the character is a baby, drawing baby characters in any other circumstances will earn 2/3 the standard adult value due to their simpler anatomy. They're basically treated as chibis- for example, a baby fullbody in a non-Growth Prompt will earn 100 wisps. See the full Prompt Value Guide here.
Note: Additional baby characters drawn in Growth Prompts will be treated as adults in baby form (see below). They will earn 2/3 the standard wisp value, which means an extra baby fullbody = (2/3)(100) = 67 wisps.

ADULTS IN BABY FORM: Once your character has grown up, you can depict them in their baby form for any ARPG prompt excluding Kelp Coin Prompts! However, art submissions will still only earn the 2/3 baby wisp value. This includes if you go back and continue drawing them in Growth Prompts (which is allowed!), the base value must be set to 100.

Baby Literacy

Wick-Wyrms are baby Candle Noodles.

Luma are baby Lumendras.

Torts are baby Tortuvinas.

Riftlings are baby Ruptours.

Designing a baby

When designing a baby, all standard design rules apply. The MYO creation process is also the same. See the full Design and MYO Creation Guide here!

You must list all required traits!

This is the only rule of note! Even if a trait isn't visible on the baby's design, you must still list it on their masterlist entry. You will be able to change their traits when you grow them up, so don't worry about finalizing the trait list. Just make sure all required trait categories (see the Design and MYO Creation Guide) are present!

Babies can have any traits, even Affinity traits. However, Affinity traits must still be added in a process separate to the MYO creation, and will not become playable until the baby grows up.

Keep in mind that babies can also be redesigned, although it is recommended to just wait for their growth-up to implement small changes!

Visual differences

Wick-WyrmsUnlike Candle Noodles, Wick-Wyrms' magic flames are not yet developed or visible. Additionally, their body is always completely covered in wax (except for the face), regardless of their Wax Coverage trait.

LumaUnlike Lumendras, Luma lantern lures are encapsulated in an  opaque shell, hiding the light. Their ear feelers are also much smaller.

TortsUnlike Tortuvinas, Torts have no mist. They are bald.

RiftlingsUnlike Ruptours, Riftlings' side-growing horns are tiny nubs. Their sword tails are also softer.

Growing up

All baby characters must first be grown up before they can participate in all ARPG activities. But don't fret, it's a simple process, and designed to help you develop your character's childhood!

Growth prompts

To grow your character up, you must complete three unique Growth Prompts with them as the focus character.

  • Repeating a Growth Prompt on the same baby will not reward Growth EXP. Each baby must complete three different Growth Prompts.
  • Each Growth Prompt only awards one character (the focus character) with Growth EXP. In other words, depicting extra babies in a Growth Prompt piece will only award one character with EXP (although group-baby-pieces are always cute!)
  • Note that Growth EXP is not actually stored anywhere, this is just a way to easier refer to how many Growth Prompts your baby has completed!

Submitting your adult design

Once you have completed three Growth Prompts with your baby, its time to grow them up!

ADULT DESIGN RULES

1. ADULT REDESIGN: You have the freedom to change your character's design (colors, markings, even body type) as they grow up! However, they must still remain recognizable as the adult form of a baby characte: the base color and core design elements should stay relatively similar. No Design Edit items will ever be required.

2. TRAIT CHANGES: You are allowed to make trait changes, but these would require the appropriate Trait Tomes/Potions/Charms. The process would also be the same as with a normal redesign.

3. BABY FORM: You are also allowed to keep the baby form on the adult reference sheet, but it must be clearly labeled as their "Baby Form."

HOW TO GROW UP YOUR CHARACTERS

1. MYO: Complete through the standard MYO creation process, using your new adult design as their reference image!

2. COMMENTS: In the comments, put "growing up." Then, in a numbered list, link 3 different approved Growth Prompts where your character was the Focus Character (not a background character in another baby's Growth Prompt). You can find these in your character's submissions tab: https://www.realmoffaia.com/character/XXX/submissions (replace the "XXX" with your character's ML code)!

3. SUBMIT: That's it! No items will ever be required unless you are changing traits.
