Cleaning Lylluna
As the days edged closer to the Rite of the Reef, Resonance left to the shores of Lylluna Reef to partake in the tradition of clearing the waters to make way for the lanterns. On the way to the beach, Resonance encountered several other Faians with bags and sticks to help clear the reef, Resonance gave them each a polite nod before scampering off in another direction to avoid the crowds. However before she got too far she recoiled and cursed at herself for forgetting her own bag to store the debris she collected. Swiftly, she bounded back over to her home to fetch her bags and went back on her trek to the beach.
The once-pristine shores of Lylluna, usually aglow under the sun's warm caress, had recently become cluttered with debris and stray fishing nets. The clear waters now held a tangled mess, threatening to cast a shadow over the beauty of the impending ritual. The sight of all the nets in the water saddened her, and she frowned in thought. She took a breath and looked up at the sky to see the position of the sun. Midday, I have about 5 hours until nightfall - better make this count!
With her bag in her paw, she began the painstaking work of untangling the nets. She dipped her paws in the water and shivered, water was never her favorite… it was WAYY too uncomfortable against her fur. She grimaced, but continued on until she spotted a bright pink net drifting on the water. She galloped over and swiftly nabbed the net in her jaws and dragged it ashore. 1 down.. Who knows how many more to go.
Resonance worked tirelessly as the sun slowly descended down the sky. Her determination mirrored the crashing waves, her tail swaying in harmony with the rhythm of the ocean. The hours slipped by like the shifting tides, but she persisted. The salty waters tinged the air with an unpleasant zing and she scrunched up her nose in disdain, but no matter, she continued. Just the thought of washing all the seawater off her fur made her cringe.
The sun touched the edges of the waters as twilight descended upon Lylluna, and Resonance was panting as she dragged a yellow net from the waters to her bag. She wiped her brow and noticed the faintest stars twinkling in the sky above her. With a sigh, she peeked inside her bag and counted all the nets she had collected. 1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8 and a ninth counting the net she had just got. With a smile she glanced over at the shore to observe her work. The waters were as clear as ever, and not a single net blocked the path the lanterns would take.
Resonance tied up her bag with a string, and hauled the bag onto her back and secured it. She took another look at the shore, and climbed and went back on the trail home with her part of the shore crystal clean. She grinned, and trotted back to her home.
