Plant Name:

Wind Catcher

Home Island:

Zamna

Practical uses:

It has a variety of medicinal uses and carries quite a few health benefits in its roots. The leaves are not edible but work well against infections. However it's not commonly used for these purposes considering the effort needed to be placed in obtaining it and a vast variety of other plants that work just as well. The best use for them is in alchemy with flowers becoming vital ingredients in certain elixirs. In that aspect they come to use in prolonging life in preservation, for mortals it may result in an external slumber in high doses and is generally not recommended to be consumed by mortals.

Unique properties:

The leaves are not only green but feature a yellow, striped patterning. The shape is recognizable as well, the lowest more rounded and small, the largest most noticeable growth with splits and pointed ends. As it blooms the flower is yellow and once opened it is blue with white anthers that seem to glow vaguely in the night. The most painstaking in its care, it only thrives among the high cliffs of Zamna with thickened roots that reach into a water source. Attempts to grow it elsewhere had little success, shriveling up in any covers overhead, the most sensitive to water quality, and even in the rare successes it fails to bloom.

Blurb/lore:

Blossoming in the late spring to early summer, the wind catcher is a unique plant that settles upon the high, rocky cliffs of Zamna. Before its initial discovery, the mention could be found in old records from past ruptour civilization. There is a variety of text that may be linked to the Wind Catcher, but one that can be noted with complete certainty is within “Tales of the Sun.” In the record it features a variety of short stories, one mentioning the plant beneath the name of ‘Sun Eater.' It described an ancient dragon that came to reach the skies, eating the morning blue and the night's stars. Yet hunger returned and all resources depleted below by some other serpent. All that was left was the sun and it was that the great dragon touched but the gods were not happy. The dragon came high before all and fell, slain and stripped of its own everlasting prosperity, what was left was only the Sun Eater. With its discovery it was given the name Wind Catcher, but in recent times there has been work placed in with the help of Ruptours to return the plant to its original name.
