Odd Comet Shards (Pyre's Roof Repair)

FWOOOOOSH! KRSHH. CRASH.

What in the bright blazes was that! Was the first thing the young Candle Noodle thought as she was working on reorganizing her Mentor’s library as asked. She stilled, making sure as the books shook none would fall. Thankfully, they didn’t. Then she heard the frantic chittering of the pets below before her name was called out. 

“Pyre! Pyre get down here, quickly! Bring your supplies!” It was Dr. Cassiopeia. Pyre’s heart sunk, honestly she thought the worst had happened! The young Candle Noodle rushed out, grabbing her repairing pouch and ran down the hall. Pyre nearly tripped down the stairs, in the process. “Yea? Yea?” She landed safely at the bottom and looked around, nothing was amiss, but she could hear the commotion outside. “I hear a crash, everything alright?” She asked as she moved out of the way of scared critters. Dr. Cassiopeia nodded in response. “Yes, but it seems that one of our neighbors’ homes were crashed upon!” Pyre blinked at the Doc in disbelief and walked over towards the open window.

Down the road, there was smoke billowing out of a hole in their neighbor’s roof! Pyre scoffed, she had her work cut out for herself! “You weren’t kidding! I’ll head on over, are you coming with or are you gonna survey the area?” She looked back at her Mentor, it was clear within the Researcher’s face that she wasn’t going to come with—not as long as the comets kept coming. Pyre smiled at Dr. Cassiopeia's response, “No, I’m not heading out to the fields, more have landed, I’m off to see the shards!”

Comically, Pyre saluted at Dr. Cassiopeia before picking up her back and hopping on over towards the damaged roof. She looked towards first aid, asking: “No one was hurt right?” They shook their heads in response before Pyre decided to look up towards the still damaged roof. “Alright then! Just give me a second, I’ll have your roof fixed in no time!” She gave them a big ol’ thumbs up before hopping her way up towards the roof. Pyre loved helping people, it’s why she was so excited working on the Crypt and why she has repairing tools!

She whistles to herself as she waves to fellow Faian coming over to oversee the repairs. “Hey guys!” She waves from up over the roof, her friends seemingly beam from the bottom, waving vigorously back. She grins and shouts. “You here to help?” They nodded in response, “Yea! Is this the only one hit?” Pyre nodded, “Around here, yea!” She looked around, before seeing the distant stars overhead, “Yea seems this is the only one right now!” She smiled, “Come on up man! This hole’s HUUUUGE!” She turned back as they made their way into the neighbor’s home. She continued working, slowly descending into the Attic to see any debris left behind. Typically, there’s just some small shards—ain’t none of those big ones the Doc’s friends research. 

Either way, Pyre cleans up the broken wooden roof top before seeing something shine in the corner of her eye. She squints, shifting her foot side to side before noticing that something was definitely buried underneath. Pyre moves the rocks around and finds an odd looking shard beneath, it was purple in color, none of that bright blue shine of typical shards. “Hm.” She simply said before tapping her paw against the shiny crystal. Nothing happened, but Pyre knew this shard was different. So Pyre put it in her mouth before hopping out after seeing that nothing else was embedded in the attic. The young Candle noodle placed the shard into her repair bag before hearing her friends come up. 

“Hey you guys! What took you so long, didn’t know Candle noodles got old.” She teased. They rolled her eyes at her before waving their hands at her. “Yea, yea kid. You forget how tall this damn building is.” This only earned a Pssh from Pyre in response. “Did ya find anything kid?” Pyre nodded, “Yea, some purple looking shard, I was gonna send it back to the Doc to give to her Scientist friends. They’ll have better use for this than we ever will.” She hummed, bringing the Shard back out.

One of the older Candle noodles gestured it close, Pyre obliged. The old Noodle surveyed it and hummed, “It’s a charm, I didn’t know those came from Comets… that one is called a Comet Shard, for obvious reasons.” Pyre’s eyes widened, “Woah! A charm? I saw a Charm on Tiana and Marjani!” She then thought to herself, “They wear ‘em, ‘cause they’re those subtypes!” The older Candle Noodle nodded, then pointed at the Shard in Pyre’s hand. “Exactly, that one there, is different. It clearly belongs to someone, you see how it had a rope around itself?” The Candle Noodle rose a brow, “That one belongs to the Ruptours.”

The room seemingly went silent. No one’s seen a Ruptour around these parts, rare races really. After all there was a full on war because of them years ago. Pyre silently nodded. “I’ll tell Dr. Cassie.” The tension passed as they looked at the hole. “Now, are we gonna help these folks?” She smiled, getting the tool ready.
