Grand Feast

Draw or write about a Faian experiencing a grand feast.

Lavish feasts are held each Saturday and Sunday night of the festival, with preparation happening all throughout the weekdays. Together with friends and family, Faians gather at long, communal tables, sharing dishes from every island and cuisine. Due to the sheer size of these feasts, pets are often tasked with passing dishes around the table for those who are seated far away.

Blind Taste-Testing

Draw or write about a Faian experiencing a blind taste testing competition.

Blind taste testing is a popular activity among Faians with refined palates, typically held on days when there’s no feast prepared. Participants are blindfolded and served small dishes from various islands. They must then guess the key ingredients and island of origin for each dish. While most Faians participate with a competitive spirit, there are some who participate just for the food… (and who can blame them!)

Cook Off!

Draw or write about a Faian experiencing a cook-off competition.

Cook-offs are high-energy spectacles, with Faians gathering to cheer on their favorite chefs and hopefully pick up a new recipe or two. Cooks from islands across the Realm are given baskets of mystery ingredients- typically leftovers from feast prep- and tasked with creating a unique dish. Their creations are judged based on several factors, including taste, presentation, and creativity.

Soup of the day

Draw or write about a Faian tasting or contributing to the Soup of the Day.

What is today’s Soup of the Day? Check the bulletin board to find out! Each day of the Harvest Festival, an enormous cauldron is set up, and Faians from around the Realm are invited to contribute an ingredient of their choosing. Soup is served at the end of the day- and somehow, it always turns out tasty (the cauldron is probably enchanted)!

Vegetable carving

Draw or write about a Faian carving vegetables.

With vegetables arriving by the crate-ful, it is impossible for them all to be used up in cooking. The solution: vegetable carving! Surplus vegetables are deposited in workshops, where Faia’s creatives are free to decorate and shape them to their heart’s desires. Many parents will bring their children to these workshops as an introduction to artisan crafts.

Evening Bonfires

Draw or write about a Faian experiencing an evening bonfire.

As the evening air grows cool, Faians gather around a massive bonfire to relax and wind down. They take turns sharing stories, both of their own life and made-up, while taking advantage of the fire to roast all sorts of treats. Sometimes, there's even live music and dancing!

The Golden Acre always saves the driest wheat husks for bonfires, just to make sure the sparks fly high into the sky!

Unloading the harvest

Draw or write about a Faian helping to unload or prepare incoming produce.

The Harvest Festival is only made possible by preparations behind the scenes. The process begins with the unloading of airships, as Faians take crates of fresh produce to the storage tents. Next, the produce must be meticulously sorted and prepared for cooking. Though tedious, this collaborative effort, accompanied by songs and friendly banter, is a unique experience that makes the Festival feel even more meaningful!

Feast cleanup

Draw or write about a Faian cleaning up after a Grand Feast.

Big feasts call for big cleanup crews! After each feast, Faians work together to clear the tables and wash the dishes, ensuring that Arkala City is ready for the next day’s festivities. Faians helping with cleanup are also welcome to take home leftover food… which is probably the primary motivator.
